John McCullough Bade -- ELCA pastor, poet, writer -- was born in
south Texas and has served in a variety of parish and campus ministry
settings in Texas and Louisiana.
In 1989, at the age of 31, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
While living with this chronic illness, his ministry has become one
of artistic reflection — through word and multimedia presentation — on
healing, wholeness and hope.
John's first book, Will I Sing Again?
is a collection of poems reflecting on chronic illness and loss.
John is married to Robin McCullough-Bade. Together, they wrote
Our Mission: Discovering God's Call to Us.
Our Mission is a part of the
Congregational Leadership Series of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America and Augsburg Fortress Publishing Company.
John enjoys gardening, music and the arts, web design (he developed this
website), and the application and use of technology to proclaim the
Gospel message.
John also delights in his son Michael, a source of great pride and joy.
